Start With the Cutting Application
Explain what the blade cuts, how the machine operates and what problem you are trying to solve. Useful descriptions include rough edges, burrs, tearing, chipping, short blade life, unstable fit or frequent regrinding. Photos of the installed blade and the finished cut can also help the first review.
Send a Drawing or Worn Blade Sample
- Technical drawing, CAD file, PDF or dimensioned sketch
- Worn blade sample when a drawing is unavailable
- Clear photos showing both sides, mounting features and edge condition
- Available measurements such as length, width, thickness, bore or holes
A sample is a reference, not an automatic approval of every existing dimension. The final specification should be checked against the machine and cutting task.
Include Machine and Material Information
Tell the manufacturer the machine model, blade position, mounting method, material being cut, cutting action and expected quantity. If the blade is part of a tooling set, include information about related knives, spacers, shafts or holders.
Confirm the Important Blade Specifications
Before production, confirm the blade geometry, material, edge profile, mounting dimensions, tolerances, quantity and inspection requirements. If a specification is not known, ask the manufacturer to identify the information needed rather than inserting an assumed standard value.
